How the SWA launched an industry resource for Scotch Whisky careers & recruitment
The challenge

The challenge

With a diverse range of employer members, from individual craft distillers to multinational organisations there was a clear demand for a centralised industry resource dedicated to careers and recruitment. The Scotch Whisky Association needed a website that could showcase the wide range of career paths within the industry, enable multiple employers to display current vacancies and to provide a central resource for recruiting and retaining talent in the Scotch Whisky industry.

The journey

The journey

When we were approached by the Scotch Whisky Association, we started by exploring different options for the website. A 'careers map' was discounted and instead we developed the idea of an animated scrolling scene; from field to ship, with the website visitor being taken through a journey of the whisky production process and the wide range of careers roles available.

The site design and build process went through online scoping sessions, wireframes of the initial site layouts, and ongoing reviews and approvals for each stage of the build. We include online digital commenting and approval tools to make this stage of the process easy; bringing all comments into one place and avoiding impossible to navigate email trails.

The project involved extensive researching and writing of job descriptions.

As the site build evolved, we then added case studies, a blog and an industry vacancies section. Providing enhanced benefits for employers and enabling them to advertise job vacancies.
